Carrom
Carrom is a flick-and-pot board game for two players — like billiards played with the fingers. On KachaPlay (kachaplay.com) you flick a striker to pocket your coins, free in your browser, against the computer, a random opponent, or a friend. This page covers the rules we use, the ways to play, and a few tips.
The rules we use
- There are 18 coins — 9 white and 9 black — arranged in a fixed cluster in the centre. One player pots white, the other black.
- A shot is an aim direction and a power level: you set where the striker sits on your baseline, aim, and flick. The result is resolved by the same physics for everyone.
- Pot at least one of your own coins with no foul and you shoot again. A clean miss or a foul passes the turn.
- A foul is potting the striker itself, or potting one of your opponent's coins. In this version a foul only passes the turn — there is no returned-coin penalty.
- The first player to pot all nine of their colour wins. There are no draws.
This is our first game with a physics board (drawn on Canvas) and continuous aim — the physics are deterministic, so the same shot always resolves the same way.
Ways to play on KachaPlay
Against the computer
Three difficulty levels — Rookie, Sensei and Master. Computer games are for practice: no rating change, no coins or gems.
Online against a random opponent
Get matched with another player. These games are rated — carrom keeps its own Elo rating, and online games are where coins and gems come from.
Against a friend
Create a room and share the link, or invite a friend. Friend rooms are casual (no rating). Each online game can be no time limit, 5 minutes or 10 minutes per side. See How to Play for the full rating and currency rules.
A few tips
- Start softer than you think — a gentle, accurate shot beats a hard one that scatters coins.
- Line up a coin straight toward a pocket before adding power.
- Because potting your own coin lets you shoot again, plan the next shot before you take this one.
- Never risk sinking the striker for a low-percentage pot — a foul hands the turn over.
FAQ
Is there a queen in this version?
No. This is a queen-less version: just nine coins per colour, first to clear their colour wins.
What counts as a foul?
Potting the striker, or potting one of your opponent's coins. A foul passes the turn.
Do I get another shot after I pot a coin?
Yes — pot one of your own coins with no foul and you shoot again.

我们采用的规则

这是本站首款物理棋盘游戏（用 Canvas 绘制）、采用连续瞄准输入——物理是确定性的，同一次出手结果始终一致。

人机对战：三个难度（Rookie / Sensei / Master），仅供练习，不计积分、无奖励。
在线随机对战：与他人配对，计积分——康乐棋有独立 Elo 积分，金币钻石来自在线对局。

几点建议
- 力度宁小勿大——一次轻而准的出手，胜过把棋子打散的猛击。
- 先把某枚棋子对正袋口，再加力度。
- 进己方棋子可续射，所以出手前先想好下一杆。
- 别为低成功率的进球去冒把击球子打进袋的风险——一犯规就换手。
常见问题
这个版本有“后”（queen）吗？没有。这是无后版本：每色九枚，先清空己方色即胜。
什么算犯规？把击球子弹进袋，或误进对方棋子。犯规即换手。
进球后还能再射吗？能——进己方棋子且未犯规就再射一次。
